John McCain has been running on a platform that stresses “Country First,” and yet he has completely set aside the country’s needs and has focused on his own selfish desire to be president by electing a woman that has stated, “What does the Vice President do?”
Sarah Palin may be a strong independent woman, but we need to focus on why McCain has chosen her as his vice president?
According to Political Punch, “Officials of the Alaskan Independence Partysay that Palin was once so independent, she was once a member of their party, which, since the 1970s, has been pushing for a legal vote for Alaskans to decide whether or not residents of the 49th state can secede from the United States.” Palin also does not support the women’s right to choose, she does not approve contraception (even to married couples.)
And “In 2002, while running for lieutenant governor, Palin called herself as ‘pro-life as any candidate can be.’ She opposes abortion for rape and incest victims, supporting it only in cases where the mother’s life is in danger, and suggested that requiring parental consent for abortions be added to Alaska’s constitution. Palin does support contraception, and is a member of Feminists for Life. Palin is also a supporter of abstinence-onlyeducation and opposes explicit sex education programs. Palin opposes same-sex marriage and supported a non-binding referendum for a constitutional amendmentto deny state health benefits to same-sex couples. Palin has stated that she supported the 1998 constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage.
In a televised debate, Palinsaidshe supported teaching both creationism and evolution in public schools. She clarified her position the next day, saying that if a debate of alternative views arose in class she would not prohibit its discussion. She added that she would not push the state Board of Education to add creation-based alternatives to the state’s required curriculum.
Palin is in favor of capital punishment. She has stated that: “If the legislature passed a death penalty law, I would sign it. We have a right to know that someone who rapes and murders a child or kills an innocent person in a drive by shooting will never be able to do that again. Palin does not support the legalization of marijuana in Alaska, stating concerns about the message re-legalization would send to her children. She has smoked marijuanain the past. Palin has strongly promoted oil and natural gas resource development in Alaska, including opening the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge(ANWR) to drilling. She does not believe that global warming is human-made. She opposed listing of the polar bear as an endangered species on the grounds that the “population has dramatically increased over 30 years as a result of conservation”, and supported a controversial predator-control program involving aerial hunting of wolves to manage moose populations for hunters. Palin is a long-time member of the National Rifle Association, and is popular among gun rights activists. She supports gun safetyeducation for youth. Palin is a “firm supporter of abstinence-only education in schools” according to CNN in 2006. “Explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support,” Palin wrote.
Palin’s foreign policy positions were unknown at the time she was picked as McCain’s running mate. Although she has supported President Bush’s efforts to stop terrorism ‘by taking the fight to the terrorists’, she has also criticized the lack of an exit strategy in Iraq. Palin has tied the war to the quest for new energy supplies, saying, ‘We are a nation at war and in many [ways] the reasons for war are fights over energy sources, which is nonsensical when you consider that domestically we have the supplies ready to go (Political Positions of Sarah Palin.)”‘
As an independent woman myself, I can only conclude that Sarah Palin is being used just because she is a woman! John McCain himself is a puppet of the Republican Party (this explains his sudden flip-flopping views once he began his bid for the White House), I am 100% sure that McCain chose Sarah Palin because she is a woman, and because she will lure the evangelical vote. It is a pathetic way of winning an election and if you ask me, he is not PUTTING COUNTRY FIRST! The fact that McCain chose Sarah Palin to be his V.P shows his poor judgement and that he will do anything to win! One of McCain’s ad’s against Obama explains why Obama should not be president, and yet he has chosen a V.P that everyone can see is not ready to run the country in case McCain is absent from office if he is elected?
Hillary supporters are better than Sarah Palin, and they will never succumb to her views! We are strong, courageous, and we raise our children to be the same! If we make mistakes, we do not hide it! We pick ourselves up and fight head on! If we chose abortion, it is for unselfish reasons; if we tax, we tax the rich who can afford it, if we do not support gun rights, it is because we have seen a loved one die of a gun shot; if we don’t go to church, it is because we worship God at home; if we support gay marriage, it is only because everyone has the God-Given right to be happy! We focus on making sure every sister and brother leads an honest, valuable, and honorable life. We are teachers, attorneys, librarians, police officers, servers, construction workers, cashiers, Farmers etc… We do nut judge others, because we believe that is not our position on earth! We believe in God’s will or fate. Our higher being will do the final judgment in the end, and of he feels that he must pass judgement on someone from loving, caring, and worshiping someone of the same sex, well–that’s God’s choice to do, not us! But if McCain and Palin want to protect the sanctity of marriage, they need to begin by doing away with overnight weddings in Vegas and divorces as well!
“let he who is without sin, cast the first stone,” and ”Love thy neighbor.”
